Kylee Rullo

About my research

I am a first-year Master鈥檚 student in Dr. Steve Murawski鈥檚 lab. My research interests revolve around pelagic and commercially-important fish in the Gulf of Mexico. I love being out in the field and on the water! In the past, I have studied snook seasonal movement through acoustic tagging, as well as assisted in raising, tagging, and releasing juvenile snook into the Sarasota Bay area. Fisheries, both recreational and commercial, are vital parts of Florida鈥檚 and other Gulf states鈥� economies. By studying Gulf fish, I hope to provide relevant research that helps keep fish populations healthy and flourishing.

Why USF CMS?

I was born and raised in Florida and could not imagine researching anywhere else. The opportunities and research funding in Dr. Murawski鈥檚 lab drew me to USF where I fell in love with the lab and campus. After visiting the campus, I was impressed with the community of students and faculty who collaborated with and supported one another. I am excited to join such a diverse academic community!
